Comprehensive practices are conveniently located in downtown Washington, D.C. at Howard University Hospital, Medical Arts Center, and East of the River located on Benning Road.

COVID- 19 Testing Center
The HU FPP was awarded a $1 million grant to improve access to COVID-19 testing centers in diverse Washington D.C. communities located east of the river. Ava J. The Howard University Center for Wellness & Weight Loss Surgery is accredited as a Comprehensive Center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®), a joint Quality Program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
Designated Blue Distinction® Centers+ for Bariatric Surgery
The Howard University Center for Wellness & Weight Loss Surgery is recognized by CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) with a Blue Distinction® Centers+ for Bariatric Surgery designation, as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated healthcare facilities committed to delivering high quality patient safety and better health outcomes.
Community Outreach
The Howard University Faculty Practice Plan has two practice locations, one in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington D.C. and an East of the River location. We also have a strategic partnership with Amerihealth for community events and service awareness initiatives. The Faculty Practice Plan loves giving back to our community by joining and partnering with community resources like Mariam's Kitchen and Susan G. Komen. As we participate in food drives and walks, we are able to give back and make a change in our community with financial support and free services.

Howard University's Faculty Practice Plan invites all school-aged children to our Back-to-School weekend clinic! No appointments are required - all insured and uninsured are welcome to receive their required school vaccinations.
